Be afraid of bites! Any bite from an eel can get a bad infection, like go to the ER bad.

You can avoid getting bit though if you're smart about things.

Easiest is, keep your hand out of the tank (I cant do this myself).

2nd, where protection (lol), the blue/orange thick gloves are great for this purpose.

3rd, always know where he/she is and avoid him/her. A spotter may help.

Good luck either way.

Thanks.
I can't avoid getting my hands in the water as well.
Gloves are also to clean the bathroom... Lol

So far she has been good.
Every time I put my hand in the tank she hides and doesn't come back out until I take my hands out of the tank.

Yeh but if you get bit you might end up surrounded by sexy Japanese nurses. Ask me how I know. Had a giant green moray try to take off three fingers in Hawaii. That thing is nothing but cute.

Hahahahaha.
At least they were sexy Japanese nurses...

This guy is a dwarf... Doesn't get bigger than 12" or so...

I got shocked by an electric eel in Portugal...

Not fun at all... That's actually the main reason I got for not wanting to keep her...
I'm traumatized. Lol
