Won this at the frag swap and im very grateful but i didn't realize I needed a windows based computer to configure it. Still brand new in box. Opened it only to read the manual.

you don't have to have windows, you can set it up manually with head unit.

If you want online connectivity you need it. Also I want the functionality of controlling my equipment remotely which the reefkeeoer doesn't offer and I thought it did.

Yes I've read all the different ways to make it work. But why should I have to go through that hassle? I realize this is a great product but the two things I mentioned (remote control of tank and OSx compatibility) are deal breakers for me.
