FYI - during past black friday sale, MR had 4 for only $99 ea...

Yes, and I picked up 3 of them (only 1 for myself, 2 for friends)

Do believe albano has one and jim as well

No I don't have one...I have 3, & I think Jim has 2, and don't forget the pintails!

They are a great deal if you can find them at $99... NY Aquatic just listed a male this week at $299...
1 of my 2 females is also now turning male, but so far my large male doesn't care...I really don't expect a problem...my ~40 wrasses all seem to get along, and female wrasses always turn male...if a female flame comes along, grab it...it will be cheaper, will turn male, and will probably live longer in your tank.

Female Flame

True Albano, I am picking up a female flame this weekend. I have had a female in my tank for over two years. I tried to keep males but for some reason not successful. Maybe the female was not happy with the male. Figures typical female instinct lol.

Is it true that a female flame won't turn into a super male ?

I usually tell people, that the other term for 'super male' is 'terminal male'...and IME, once a male becomes a 'super male', it IS terminal... meaning that the next 'maturing male' will likely kill the super male!
IMO always try to buy the (cheaper) juvi/female wrasse...it will eventually turn male, and if you have other wrasses it should 'color up' as a super male.

I'm in the middle of a major house remodel, and will soon be up/down grading my basement 450g DT, to a basement ~400g DT & adding a new living room ~300g DT... But I'll try to get some pics

There is no real going rate for them. They are relatively newly discovered and there is no 'standard' on them. They are often confused for other wrasses and or mislabeled. I think what ever you want for it is fine and if someone agrees they will buy it.

matt thats a hard one, out of all ive had has been my super male eightline or my supermale flame would probably have been my favorites, but i loved my full male rhomboid also. none of which were aggressive and kept with several other wrasse's at the same time
