ACAN colony

Please save this colony!!!! I paid 300$ over a year ago and it was thriving. Asking 150$ pick up. I added a file fish to eat my aiptasia and he is picking on my acans stressing the coral. This coral must go or it will die and that would be a shame. At least 50 heads, nice dark red color and was doing perfect until i added the filefish this week. Located in forest hills queens. thanks chris

nice i coral wish i could get it looking for acans for my sps tank but take it from me those damn file are a pain i took mine out he wouldn't even look at the aptasia in my tank and he ate my harlequin shrimp smh if you ever get smaller heads lmk and sorry to hear about the stress he's getting

how many heads were eaten by filefish? any dying heads?

the file fish only nipped at the coral and the coral went into protective mode. Out of 50+ heads i would guess maybe 3 if that are dead. This colony is in good shape but stressed. Its in an open plastic bag inside my tank for protection. This colony blows up nicely when given a chance to distress. It looked awesome before the filefish was added and caught nipping. worth $150 easily

if i didn't have a severe aiptasia problem i would just catch the filefish and keep my colony...unfortunately that's not the case

can you take a close up pic of colony? what are its colors under daylight and actinics ?

the picture i provided is the best i can get, im at work now. Its currently in a plastic bag for protection. Its a dark solid red color. All heads are the same in color (red) Heads are growing all around the sides too. Its one big colony puffed up when its not stressed. Not much more to add.

Can the filefish and grab 2-3 peppermint shrimp. I wouldn't lose the colony over a filefish and some aptasia... Just my opinion. Peppermint shrimp cleaned my 80gal that had a TON of aptasia in less than 3 days. Every day I'd wake up the less and less. Even put one in my sump and it cleaned up all those in there. Don't lose a great coral and take a hit over this...

I can assure u he didnt take a hit.
We traded last nite and he was happy with a fair trade.
Also i think his rocks are pretty much done with aiptasia. He will have to take them out and let them dry. I dont think pepermint will eat that much or eat at all. Since they are hit or miss.
