Autoponicz, I think you now have 2 GS Maroon clowns. GS Maroon are not born with the gold stripe. They are born with white stripe which turns yellow as they get older. If I recall correctly the turning age is about 6 months.

That is because it is a regular Maroon Clown. I didn't say all Maroon Clowns become GS Maroon CLowns, just that when GS are born they do not have gold stripes. The stripes develope as they mature. I have no idea what sex your clowns are, but I do understand that the female is larger. It appears that your original maroon clown is younger then the one you are picking up from the lfs, hence the changing of the color of the stripes. Hey, count your blessings you purchased a gs maroon for the price of a regular one. Why don't you see if they will pair up? Mine did a few years ago. Unfortunately I lost the pair.

Best of luck

I don't think you should wait. Thing is that if you are going to put them in a tank that one of them has been living in for a while, you are going to have to do some redecorating, as to confuse the original one. Make it think it is in a new home, and then put them together. This way the hope is that they won't be so territorial. See what happens, there may be a little chasing in the beginning, nothing vicious. Just keep an eye on them. If you see that the fighting becomes vicious then you know it isn't working. Let me know what happens.

nice clown awibrandy.......how big is he?
yea i have tried to put the 2 clowns together.....and after 3 minutes.....my white striped clown took about 3-4 nips of the yellow striped fins......the white striped is very aggressive....he immediately went to attack mode...... they were both put into a 12 gallon tank which was a new setup so both of them didnt establish a territory yet.....so i guess they just wasnt meant to be.....so now the white striped clown is back in a holding cell in my 46....i hope someone wants him soon....i dont want to hold him in there for too long....hes a very pretty fish....if noone wants him...ill have to trade him in at the LFS

My guy is somewhere between 1.5" - 2". Nips will happen. 12 gallon is awfully small for them. How big is the holding cell? Can it fit in the 12gl.? I'm thinking you could keep one in the white one in the hc, and see how he reacts towards the GS as he swims around. Just a thought.
