I?m only speaking from my experience but I?ve also read many similar reports from people online that they don?t do well in tanks. I?ve went through two of them. The first I had for about 8 months and toward the end it got skinnier and skinnier even though it was eating and then it just stopped and died. The second I had for about 4-5 months same exact thing happened to it. This fish seems to wither away, I?m not sure if we have it?s diet nutrition needed for this fish quite right. I was feeding him hikari and pe mysis shrimp along with nori which it only ate a handful of times. I also fed him pellets but he preferred the shrimp. Anyway just make sure you do your research and good luck

Ok. Maybe I shouldn?t purchase it. I don?t really want to buy such a beautiful fish and then it wind up dying on me.

its all about pellet size and algae consumption. lots of research led me to find that even though they have huge mouths, they only consume small granules. tried medium and large and he totally ignored it. he LOVES the new NYOS organic pellet line, the soft sweet aloe. I also learned through research its very beneficial, especially since they will scrape your live rock clean of all algae, for it to have access to nori at least 3x a week. I've found the innovative marine holder they sell is the best for them. it mimicks the scraping habit through the square to get at the nori. here is the product

he actually wouldn't really touch nori from a clip unless it was floating from the other tangs ripping it off.

i have to say, poto sold me a beautiful fish. he's a bit larger than i wouldve liked but perhaps it was more mature and ready to acclimate to various foods. he loves mysis, flakes, clam

i waited over 6 months to find the perfect specimen. i too saw a few clunkers before I discovered mine. do the same. yours is out there, when you are prepared and when you least expect it. you won't be disappointed he is a joy to watch swim end to end, twirl in the powerhead streams and keeps my rock squeaky clean. good luck.
