Do u recommend the tree sponge for my tiger tail seahorse tank?

I think the piece looks great as a focal point but the seahorses didn’t use it much as a hitch and stuck to the gorgonians more. Plus the care is pretty brutal, It was turning white in some areas due to not getting enough filter food into it. Had it for two months while it looked healthy. Don’t know during the whole transition to my tank from collector to LIveaquaria if it was exposed to air or not.
