lol.
I actually have seen two of them in my reefing life. They do exist.
Hahahaha! They do, just messing with you. I’ve had many mandarins over time, been at it since ‘93. I’ve never trained them, but over time, they’ve always learned to pick off frozen mysis and brine on their own. The key is not to have too many small “rock grazers” like small wrasses, Pygmy angels, or blennies that compete with them.

Not to beat a dead horse, but...there are other factors to consider. Even most trained Mandarins (like mine from Biota) will eat pellets but typically only when pods are not available. Even if they do take to the pellets, they will still graze throughout the day. They will decimate your pod population in a 15 and, don't forget, pods are very important to the system for many reasons.

I will be dosing pods weekly together with phytoplankton On top of blood worms and pallet. I have been in the hobby for over 25 years and I really do understand what you are talking about. But all throughout those years i always try to manage things that are not possible in nature like really Not reef safe fish on my 180G tall lps tank. Lost a lot of money but sometimes it worked.
I love Mandarin dragonet and there are ways to keep it in a small tank. Yes, it is extremely challenging due to the eating habits of the fish.
Biota has them trained on suplemental foods from birth. Pods should be a treat and not the main source of food. Also, Kent garlic extreme, will do it’s magic once again. But, thank you all for kind words and your time to respond.
Kindly,
Chiromanta.
