Yes I hear that if it dies. It can wipe out my entire tank. I had it three months. It's doing great. I feed it live plankton & Brine shrimp. It a filter feeder. Cool to watch it eat. But not worth risking it wiping out my tank. I have too much invested in my setup. Over $10,000. So take it @ your own risk. It;s yours for free. LMK
