I believe I'm third generation to have this skimmer on MR. All the connections have been re-glued. The cylinder is not in the best condition but it works fine with no leaks. One of the connections might be leaking and need some silicone. I bought this back in 08/07 (I think) for $200, it is in the same condition since then and I was happy using it. The problem is that one of the impellers got stuck and I couldn't free the shaft so you will need to order a new one here at

I second that, great skimmer! KICK A#$ in my 125 fowlr, Great chance for someone to get a great skimmer at a great price, just requires a little work

Noodleman offered his impeller so the new price for a working das ex-2 is $175. If used internally, its good to go. If used externally one of the joints might need a little silcone because of a tiny leak but I'm not sure if there really is a leak (because I used it internally).

The way the cup comes off you all need about a 1/2 inch to get the cup off. I love mine, you should be happy with your purchase.
