I’m currently located in Middletown, NY (10940) and relocating. I must get rid of three original MiniReef tanks that were imported from Holland back in 1986. These tanks were imported by a company called International Seaboard. These are the original MiniReef tanks. They were described in the first series of articles back in 1986 when the Mini Reef was first introduced to the United States. They need some work, but this is truly the “DEAL OF THE CENTURY” for some energetic reef enthusiast.

There are three tanks:

1) Approximately 50 gallon, measures 45”L x 16”D x 19.5H (45”H with stand.) This tank was used for approximately 14 years setup as a Mini Reef. It has a unique built in filter on the right side of the tank. This tank needs some silicone work, mostly dealing with the Formica and some on the internal filter.

2) Approximately 90 gallon, measures 51”L x 19.5”D x 24.5”H (50”H with stand.) This tank was never used, but unfortunately has a crack in the top – middle of the front glass. Tank was filled with water and sat for two weeks and the crack was monitored. It did not get any bigger and there were no leaks. These tanks are constructed with much support internally. I believe this tank is useable under the proper circumstances. Tank has an internal pre-filter and is bottom drilled to flow to the included external wet/dry filter system.

3) Approximately 120 gallon, measures 63”L x 19.5”D x 26.5”H (52”H with stand.) This tank was never used and is in very good condition. Tank was filled with water and sat for two weeks with no leaks. Tank covers and front doors to the stand have some cracked glass mounted on Formica which can be repaired with no problem. Tank has an internal pre-filter and is bottom drilled to flow to the included external wet/dry filter system.

No reasonable offer will be refused, but there are conditions.
? Whoever wants these units must take all three of them; you cannot take just one or two. You’re going to need a large pickup truck or something to take them away.
? The lucky person must remove all of these tanks from my residence in Middletown, NY by October 11, 2008 which is next Saturday. I’m home all day and night so pickup is available anytime.

There are also a couple unused pumps, protein skimmer, wet dry filter and miscellaneous stuff. Believe me, if you are into this stuff you will be a very lucky person.

Don’t have time to take many pictures. Shown are the 120 gallon and the external filter.

I basically want to get rid of this stuff and fast. Price is $300. There were thousands of dollars invested here.

Please PM me for additional / contact information.

You should post a price before the mods come down on you.

Thanks for the info, I've updated the post.

So the tanks have been dry for almost 23 years? How is the silicone holding up?

Don't know how to answer that question, visually and pliably, the silicone seems fine. They've been sitting in my living/dining room for all that time.

The only way to know is fill them with water. And even if there was a leak, a razor blade and new silicone works wonders!!!

You would spend thousands of $$$$s to buy new stuff with this functionality & you could not find anything on the market like it.

How many of you were around / and / or remember the original six (6) articles in "Fresh Water and Marine Aquarium" magazine introducing the MiniReef to this country?

These tanks are very unique. There were not many imported to the US.

It would be a shame to bust them up into pieces and fill up the landfills.

Monroe is a 20 minute drive. Take a visit and judge for yourself!
