I want to clean my tank once with a diatom filter. i figured i would do a 50 % water change and save the water. then put the filter on and keep all the detriuse in the watwer colum. I can do this because i have no sand bed and can wave my hand vigereslousy. i could just keep doing this untill the filter takes out all the nasties. then remove the filter and then put the old water back in. the reason for reusing the old water is that i have herd that corals dont like diatom filters and they are so fine that they will strip the water of benifical compunds and organisms . so i figured if i reused the old water i could repopulate the water colum.
so who has a diatom that i can rent for something around 30 bucks for 5 hours.
