greengny, I don't know the dimensions of your setup so I can't say if it'll fit on it. I do have it hanging on the outside of my 10g sump. only the pump goes inside the water. the rest of the unit hangs like a power filter. the included pump is a maxi-jet 1200 powerhead. I think I may have the optional pre-filter box for the skimmer which looks like an overflow and hides the pump. the
pre-filter might not fit but, I'm not sure.

how deep did you run the water level in the sump cuz i need it in my 3 gal sump

i meant 30 gallon sump . the water level on the tank will be 8 1/2 inches from the bottom i dont know if it will work
I just checked the water level in that section of my sump and its actually 8"deep. the pump sits on the bottom of the sump about 3" off the bottom. so, you'll only need that section to be 4" at all times. You have about the same water level as me. It should work out with no problem. I keep it in my first section right before the first divider/baffle, where the level never fluctuates.
