So I posted this topic in the SPS forum but didn't get a response, so I'm reposting. Hopefully thats ok....

Anyways, I purchased my first piece of SPS a couple of weeks ago. I have no clue what it is, I just took the recommendation from my boys at manhattan aquariums. A pic is attached.

So my question is, how do you know if your SPS is healthy? Under appropriate lighting? Eating? Proper flow?

Any advice or words or wisdom are appreciated.

It appears to be a Montipora digitata which is the perfect beginner SPS --- nice job MA--- It also appears to be happy. You want to see polyp extension ( kind of a bushy overall appearance), good rich coloration, and eventually growth as evidenced by lighter almost white tips on the branches. In general, M. digitata likes strong light and moderate current. Do not worry about feeding.
