I broke a piece of my purple bonsai accidentally. I stuck the piece in a crack on the rocks on it's side and wedged it in there, since I had no glue. The base is now around 3 inches in diameter, however, it hasn't grown upwards much.

i glued a frag that i got from the swap on it's side and it formed a base faster than any other sps i had. sadly it rtn on me.

It's encrusting nicely then. When it does start to grow up, it's going to shoot up 5 or 6 'sprouts' simultaneously. All of a sudden you'll have a colony. Patience grasshopper, patience.

anybody ever try that method where you suspend the frag in the water witha string and let it blow around in the current? Supposely it helps the frag grow more evenly and round
