Hi, i have a large acro colony and I noticed a tiny bit of white fuzz on one of its inner branches. I thought I basted it away last night but it was still there this morning so I used a toothpick to remove it, and it looks like the acro is white underneath.. What is this? Is it just detritus that stayed a little too long, or is it something else? I increased flow to the area, the flow seemed to be missing that vacinity before.

Nitrates <5
alk 8.4
phosphates, recently undetectable on salifert.

thanks!

Every once in awhile I'll see this stringy slime in or on my acros and I just attribute it to their defense to something in the system (sliming) but nothing puffy or anything like that - possible it died in that area - sounds to me the "white" underneath would be tissue necrosis.

Do you dose Iodine at all? I find a once in awhile dose does wonders.

Yeah I dose iodine weekly -- I have xenia, and it always seems to perk up after I use it. I will keep an eye on the white spot, if it starts to spread I will panic and take pictures. I think it was probably just a piece of smutz that stuck there a little too long.
