setting up my 75gal.(21"deep). I'm planning to keep 80% softies and LPS, but would also like to keep maybe one or two Acropora and Maximas. I know this will not work if they are on the bottom, but if the SPS and clams are put in the top half of the rock will 2x175W 10,000k and 2x110W Actinics be sufficient for them to, I dare say, thrive? I wouldn't mind stepping up to 2x250W if it wasn't for the sudden huge price jump in retrofits. I'm currently looking at this  http://www.hellolights.com/48reflectors.html

Thanks,
Joel

FWIW, I have dual 175's with one 96w 10k and a 96w actinic in my 90 gal and my accropora has gone from 4" wide to about 6.5" wide (I'd guess doubling or even trippling in volume) in about 6 months. My accro sits about 1/2 the way down in the tank.
However, clams tend to burrow in the sand, so you may not have enough light for them.

Actually, T. maxima (and T. crocea) prefer to be on rocky surfaces so they would probably do OK under that light up close to the surface. I would do 250W 6500K MHs, but I think you can get away with your setup. A T. squamosa or T. derasa would probably do OK on the sand.
