Well, I thought I'd try my hand at some of these new LPS pieces coming out. Since their names so often accompany eachother, I decided to get the War and Peace Coral from www.rarefrags.com. These are the ultra rare pieces being auctioned by Tyree and Reeffarmers. I'm sorry that the War piece came out a little dark. I wanted to get a shot of the side with the 'marbled' look (grey/blue markings).

(no actinics, so the colors are true)

Enjoy!

My War Coral is doing well. I am hoping for faster growth under my new 10K Reeflux Bulbs.

The red was a bit prettier under the 15K XM's.

I did notice that the corals tenacles came out and stayed out after it had been in my tank for a few months. Prior to that, they only came out at night.

It's a cool coral.

I saw these last weekend in Karl's new tank. They are deffinantly some very nice looking corals. Just remeber to feed them often and they should grow pretty fast.

Karl you are a sucker for that LE tab  Those are some sweet pieces. I had a chance to get the Peace coral but I passed. I already have someone holding the War coral for me but regret it now since Colonies of it are coming in left and right now.

Either way you picked up some sweet pieces and now you will be hooked on LPS

On a side note I have been dipping into SPS corals lately..........go figure....there are too many nice Monit's coming in lately!!!

True, when I first got in the hobby I wanted all Softies and few SPS, then I got hooked on LPS and it was downhill from there. I think setting up a frag tank has made me want more SPS

I noticed that, too. From what I understand, the polyps can be extended all day.

I am a sucker for the LE tab. The collectiblity adds to the beauty for some reason

I've noticed some of the War Coral clones coming in now. They're similar, kind of like the odd looking aquacultured Supermans. Side by side, though, the true War Coral is different. The clones don't have nearly as deep green and red color, and they lack the marble, which is what I find most unique about it.

I'm not hooked, though :P You do have to show me how you target feed them. John said you use Mysis.

Karl, I just fed my war coral frag from chopped krill the other night. Each polyp ate about 1/4 piece of krill.

Peace,

Chip

Oh ya, most LPS love those things.

I make my own food with a seafood mixture from the grocery store and cyclopeeze. My fish and corals go nuts when I feed this stuff!

Karl, they will eat the oyster eggs, but trying to feed them just that is going to be hard. My experience with the oyster eggs was that it was good for feeding the whole tank. However for feeding LPS like the war and peace corals I like to use much meatier foods. What I do is take a shot glass and shave some PE mysis (shaving it gives me smaller piecs that are easier for the corals to eat) and cyclopeze and mix with some tank water. I use dissposable tranfer pipets to suck up the mix and while the pumps are off I start off by a very light dusting if the coral's tenticals aren't out (I tend to feed durring the day while the lights are on and use this trick to get the feeders out all the time). Wait a couple of minutes and the corals should have all their tenticals out and then you load them up with food. Wait about 5 mines and turn the pumps back on. I think the key to getting LPS to grow fast is to feed the meaty foods often.

OK Karl people are going to think you are creating Idenity theft or something, are you having mid life crisis or something???? If I may ask, why all the name changes??
