Saw quite a few of these for sale in Japan. Not sure what it's called, but you'd need an awful lot of current to maintain that growing pattern, I'd assume. Seem to remember that that growth pattern comes from being exposed to the most intense wave action on the reef crest.

Acropora Photoshoppicus , according to Veron this is the rarest species of reef building corals. It is only found in one prticular region of the Atlantic Ocean, right in the main entrance to the underwater world of Altantis, the lost city. You know... right there in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle. If you stand in the very middle of the bridge Matt owns you should be able to see some of them at the very top of the reef crest and you should spot the collectors that smuggle them to Japan :roll:

In my defence, there were corals that looked like this. Though maybe they also tasted good with melted cheese on top.

The worst thing is, I think this is the second time I've fallen for this.

I think a clue would be the uniform color even in the "coralites" that are smooshed together and wouldn't get much light
