If I were you I would do either MH, T5 or a combination of both. Im sure MH will have to be lots of watts and create a lot of heat. Maybe try a search on google to see what other people with such big tanks have done.

2 x 250 halides with lumenbright large reflectors light up my tank very well. I have the 250g version (60 x 36 x 27)

I think if you go with 2 x 400w bulbs and the right reflectors raised a little higher you will be good.

Yes I know. Each halide will light up the 36 x 36 area if you use a good large reflector raised to the proper height off the water. You will need room to hang them pretty high off the water to get the spread you want which is why I recommend 400w.

The 250w are good for my 60 x 36 x 27 tank.

If you don't have alot of overhead clearance you will need more MH bulbs or it may be better to go with T5 or LED.

t5 will light the bottom, and even if you went with the 5' uit u are only losing 6" each side which most people dont have corals wall to wall anyways, my tank is 22" tall and i have the light 8" above water and keep my clam on the sand

Yeah a guy I know has the 4' powermodule on a 5' tank and the 6 inches on each end of the tank don't look any different.

hmm intresting what so should i just stay with the 2x 36 inch fixtures that would give me a total of 20 t5s at 39 watts 780 total, or go with the 5 foot fixture wich will be 80w bulbs by 10 that would be 800 watts total think of just going with the 2x 36 inch cause the spread should be better.

If I were faced with that decision I would go with the 80w 5 ft fixture. The bulb replacement budget gets cut in half. There isn't much difference in price between 36 in bulbs and 60 inch bulbs.

If it was me I would choose the 10 bulb 60" powermodule fixture for that tank (if I went T5)

2 x 36" fixtures are just not necessary. IMO the money would be better spent elsewhere.

Sorry I meant 10 bulb.

I edited my post.

In my opinion 2 x 36 fixtures are unnecessary and the money could be better spent elsewhere.

As far as dimming goes...I am not sure why you could not dim the 5 ft version. But I am also not sure why I would ever need to dim other than the wow effect when the turn on.

To me it's just not worth the extra grand to have a dimmer but if you do it's your prerogative.

Either path you choose will be sufficient.

hey wes thanks for you help. yes do def do not make 60 inch in dimmable, im not sure why niether why i would need it to be dimmable just wanted it due to the fact i can use my profilux to control it. so if i go with the 2x 36 or 1x 60 inch i should be good in your opinion?

Well , When I was looking to up grade my light for the one I had, one of the members had a ati 6 bulb light over their tank. I was very impressed with the light and esp the reflectors.

I went with the ati because of the active cooling, it cools the bulbs down and expands the life of the bulbs. It is very well made but the only problem I had was mounting the fixture but all in all I am very happy.

With in 2 weeks I have noticed my coral is brighter and doing excelent, I have blue tips on my stags and my green cap is actually green and purple rimmed.

I agree with Wes about going with 1 fixture with both money and would look a lot cleaner. Later on you can even add on a reefbrite or two which people say is the same par or double as a blue plus bulb. Thats only if you wanted more pop or growth.
