I had to put the 125 on hold for a lil bit and decided to setup a 20 gal tall I had laying around. I actually had everything to set this up and with a free bag of salt from a buddy, I started the cycle about 3 weeks ago. The sand and rock I used still had some bacteria in it so the ammonia part went real quick. My nitrite spiked for about 2 weeks and just dropped of the other day. While I was going thru the trites, my wife came home with a water bottle that had 3 minnows and 5 grass shrimp in it. It turns out she collected them with my kids at the local harbor and figured she would throw them in the tank! (Shes lucky it wasn't my 125:wink1:) I figued they would die because of the nitrites but they actually made it thru:eek: So I guess we are gonna turn this into a lil local tank and see how it goes. I'm planning on getting my 8 yr old son involved so maybe he can learn something.
It has a hob filter loaded with rubble and a generic maxi jet for flow. I added an ATO for more stable salinity. I still need to to something with the rock.
Heres a couple of crappy pics:teeth:

I figured i update thus since i finally put some new livestock in the tank. I picked up some snails and a tube anemone last night. Since. I havent found a decent fixture for this tank yet, i figured i go with the tube nemesis too settle my coral fixation for a lil bit. Thus mltning i woke up and found the nemesis eating the last surviving killie that my wife made me put in the tank when i was cycling. The poor little guy survived high nitite levels only to be eaten by something it would of never encountered if my wife didnt lluck him from the sound lol She is pissed and blames the whole thing on me. She thinks i boight the nemesis just to eat her fish lol.
Im still hunting for a decent t5 fixture for this tsnk. Ive seen a couple in the marketplace but everyone is so far away:banghead::banghead: I have 4 frags in a buddys tank waiting for me thanx to Awi. I might just buy a new fixture this weekend.

Still no light:what: I added 2 blue w/yellow tail damsels. Ive always liked damsels just never wanted them because of their bullying capabilites. I figured i can have some in this tank since im not putting any other fish in there. I might be adding a hob reef octopus skimmer to this tank to step it up a notch.

I started dosing hydrogen peroxide at 1ml in the morning, way before the lights kick on and 1ml at night before i go to bed. Ive been doing it for 4 days now and im noticing a difference. All livestock is doin great so far also.

I'm still fighting cyno:banghead: I've tried red slime remover twice and chemi clean 3 times. I'm done putting crap in my tank. I'm just gonna siphon it out every week like I have for the past 5 weeks. I added some corals, mostly zoas. Here's some pics
