Custom stand for 50g cube

I hate the stand I got from cadlights so I asked a friend to build me a custom stand. So here we go. I had it modeled after a stand that d2mini had on livingreefs..

The stand is 34" tall and 30" wide. Here are some of the build pictures.

Decided to go with an espresso stain on the outside and a marine waterproof enamel on the inside. The back panel will be fixed to the stand. The two side panels will be removable with 2 slide bolts on each to hold them in place and the front is a full door. Still working on how to hide the hinges.

looks great. if you use black hinges i think they will blend in

Why not go with concealed hinges.

I think so too. I just don't want the hardware on the outside. I think if the front door is cut back a bit it will accommodate a European concealed hinge. The problem is the clearance to the side trim. No room for the door to swing without binding against the trim.

I dont know what they are called but if you where to use the hardware that allows you to remove the entire door you would need one on each side. that would do what you are looking to do....

There is a 2" overlay. Only a compact concealed hinge will work. It's the door swing that's the problem. The reveal is 3/16. Picking up the hinges on Friday. Keep your fingers crossed.

I dont know what they are called but if you where to use the hardware that allows you to remove the entire door you would need one on each side. that would do what you are looking to do....

So the entire door would lift off like an access panel? Pretty cool idea

Thought about that. Worried about the door getting damaged going on and off all the time.

My friend Ian is building it. He has a woodworking shop. Makes custom cabinets and furniture. He is in oakdale on Long Island.

Some updated pics. Decided on the hinges, they should be in on we'd or Thursday. Decided to go with hinges instead of a removable panel. Dont want to damage the door or cabinet with constantly taking it on and off.

Side doors are going to attach with slide bolts for easy on and off but can be locked on to keep the kids out.
