Yes, this would be the garf method on steriods. I see the tunze rock down there too. My first tank was a Garf "bullet proof reef" method tank and I will say that it was good. It was only up for about 9 months so I can't say anything about it's long term success.
Give yourself a little time before you go for the acroporas (if that's what you want). Also, consider Randy 2 Part as opposed to the Seachem products they seem to like.
