So the clown says to the Goby, stop staring at my eggs!
And the Goby says, its a free country, I can perch wherever I want to and stare all I want.
20140814_121501_00_zps0541a142.jpg

And then the clown goby had to vacate the premise as fast as he could!
20140906_181501_00_zpsaa62433f.jpg

Pictures were actually taken by webcam about a week apart. But the story is pretty much the same everyday. The clown goby is always trying to get at the clownfish eggs.

Today I did a big water change (close to 50%). I am trying to siphon out some flatworms thats taking over. I didn't get as much out because I was using a 1/2" hose and before I knew it, almost half the tank was drained.

And I'm sad to say that I had a casualty in the process. While I was moving one of the rocks I accidentally tear the foot of a bubble tip anemone. It is a little fella, no more than 4 inches, so I had no idea that its foot spanned across 2 rocks! When I tried to move a small rock that was sitting on top of another rock I tore the anemone. I'm deeply sadden by this. I don't think the nem will make it. I put on the sponge covers for the vortechs for protection. I don't want the nem to detach from the rocks and nuke the tank.
Damn flatworms!:banghead:

Here is a picture. I'm hopeful that the larger piece will make it, but it might be a goner too.

Good chance they'll both make it. Dont' stress too much. They don't seem to be too much bothered by it considering how finicky nems can be...

Thanks Bro. I am happy to report that both pieces made it! And I think the nem grew twice as large in this short time. On the other hand, I haven't seen my female ruby red dragonet and I don't know if the fwe has anything to do with it. I miss the nightly dance that they use to perform.

And I finally found a leopard wrasse and a melanarus wrasse. Both have been in QT for a week. They have 5 more weeks and then they are both going to work. I'm holding off from treating the tank again with fwe until these guys have a chance to dine.

Here is a pic of the nems. They are thriving and even have a new tenant. The nem is now hosting the porcelain crab since the clowns kicked him out of the other anemone.

Cool tank, good luck with the FWs.
Thanks.

Awesome! Glad to hear they both survived. Its a beautiful nem too! Let's see the fish you got in qt!

Im glad it survived as well. It looks better than it did before the accident.

Here is a pic of the leopard that I took at the store before purchasing.

I will try to get a shot of them later this week. They are always hiding in the QT tank. This is my second leopard. A few weeks ago I release one into my DT and I never saw it again. So this time around I got a slightly larger one. Hopefully it will make it.

Anemone

Today I recognize what looked like 3 distinct anemones. So I took a quick picture when the pumps were off. I think there's definitely 3 nems created from the accident. In a way I think I got lucky.

Someday...in the distant future I will probably start worrying about having so many anemones in the tank. Here is a picture of the RBTA. Its easily about 12"+ when fully open. I also have a light green BTA on the right side of the tank. The clowns get their pick and usually takes turns visiting each one.

Additional Top View Pictures

I never took pictures from the top before, so I took several and they actually came out clear.
In some of the pictures you can see how bad the flatworm infestation is.

SPS Growing

Today I realized that a few pieces of SPS are actually growing in my tank. I knew they were there, but I didn't pay too much attention to them. They usually get covered by a torch, anemone, anthelia, or a mushroom or 8. I got some of the pieces during the NYRC frag swap. Great bunch of guys!
I didn't think the pieces will make it because my tank is mostly LPS and also my water quality is not optimal.

My gold torch sleeping. Or maybe something is up with it, its tentacles hasn't been as long as it used to be.

Gold Torch

Also this shrimp has been living on this Gonipora (I think thats what it is). Some nights the shrimp takes a hike across the tank and sneak into the anemone. But the clowns usually kick it out by the next morning. The gold torch also killed off part of this coral that is next to it.

oh207 2014 reef tank pictureshow

Here is a picture-show of my tank in 2014. My webcam is mounted to the side of the tank and its configured to email and FTP a picture every hour between 9am and 9pm.
I took most of the pictures from the FTP folder and created this pictureshow. Its very long (12min). When I get a chance to delete some more pics from the folder I would like to cut it down to under 5 minutes.

Cinnamon Clowns, 6 months old

Caught a shot of one of my fire shrimp. I have a pair that lives behind the rocks, but I hardly get to see them.

Here is a picture of a birdsnest that is growing fast. So much for me trying to keep the tank as LPS only.

Cinnamon Clowns, 6 months old

I picked up a pair of 6 months old, captive bred, Cinnamon Clowns at the LIRA meeting this weekend and put them into the DT around 1am.
The next morning to my surprise and delight, they were being hosted by the green bubble tip anemone!

Anemone Shrimp on the move

Every night this shrimp leaves a Gonipora colony on one end of the tank to travel to the other end of the tank to go into the Green bubble tip anemone. The next morning it travels back to the other corner of the tank.
