So far so good with my eggcrate bottom tank.

No,

I think there was a huge debate on this issue on MR.
With good water flow, 10% water changes, good fuge going I think I'll be ok.
Also good skimming helps.

New Addition....

Not 100% sure if this is an acan or a favia.
It has the flesh of a acan and yet the still looks somewhat like a favia.
Unfortunately I can't positively ID this coral because there are no dead polyps anywhere, maybe fortunate?
This piece measures about 9" x 10"

Yes, Scroll coral with crazy PE, one of the easiest SPS to keep.
