E, that tank looks awesome, love the fuge. Great pics. Makes me want to set up the 30 that's sitting collecting dust. But at last I know at least one person that would strangle me.LOL

Wow, beautiful tank. What kind of lighting do you use? I just got a 33 gallon and I'm trying to figure out what the heck to do. How big is your sump, howd you build it? What kind of skimmer? I'd appreciate any suggestions you had because you obviously know whats up. Thanks.

Thanks... lighting is a single MH 175w pendant with a Reeflux 12k bulb. The sump is just a 20g tank which contains my heater, Remora Urchin skimmer, pH and temp monitors, and currently a 9w UV sterilizer that will probably go on my QT once I'm confident that my tank is back up to par.

The 20g drains into a 10g tank that I use as a fuge with a single baffle to house the return pump (A ViaAqua that pumps 760gph)

hey E, that looks great! I love that size tank for a reef, the scaping suits it really well. I think it shows you spend time under the water as well, it looks natural and well balanced, that's not easy to get in that tank.

The tank looks great, nothing better then setting your tank up fresh and putting things the way you want. The setting it up is as much fun as looking at its beauty, you just don't feel it till after its done. Enjoy your project, its what the hobby is all about.....

I've added and removed rock as I go, but I would guess about 40-45lbs of rock are in the tank. I used the ESV fine grade sand, and used one bag (50lbs I think), but would advise using sand suited to you. I keep a shallow sand bed and stir it often, otherwise it looks horrible in a matter of weeks.
