29 gallon reef tank. Very simple setup.
32 pounds premium fiji live rock
1 inch aragonite live sand bed
1 Penguin 170 biowheel filter w/ biowheel out
1 Aquaclear 3000 powerhead
1 heater
1 peppermint shrimp
1 trochus snail
3 scarlet hermits
corals are: 1 red mushroom, 1 6inch wide hairy green mushroom, briareum (close cousin to green star polyps), and candy coral.
Suspect a mantis shrimp to be in tank also.
Tank started in April 2001. Went 1 month before adding the 3 hermits and 3 trochus snails. 2 snails died, then bought 3 of the 4 corals, all doing well and growing like crazy still, added 1 longnose hawkfish after 2nd month. 1 1/2weeks later added royal gramma. Hawkfish MIA after only having for 13 days. LFS said may have died and been cleaned up by hermits. Around same time was given the green hairy shroom by friend. Have had royal gramma for a few weeks now and added 2 peppermint shrimp. 1 shrimp died after 1 week (was just laying on the bottom w/ tons of little egg type things under the tail which was weird..
Royal Gramma also died just recently, had a little battle w/ some still unknown parasites. (Will be quarantining from now on) No more fish for a few months
water quality specs:
specific gravity - 1.025
Calcium - 400 (use B-ionic daily)
Alkalinity - 3.2
pH - 8.4
Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate all undetectable.
Lighting will be upgraded ASAP! Have one half n half now, part actinic....in hood that came w/ tank. Will be going w/ glass cover and dual light bulbs recommended by LFS.
