As of Oct02
Tank Size 48x18x20 Acrylic 75g
Sump Size 20x12x14 15g
Live Rock tank is about 1/3 full. I have a boring Wall-o-Rock aquascape.
Live Sand 175lbs of CaribSea Reef sand. Ranges from 6" thick down to bare bottom in some places. Bare spots courtesy of my Blue Damsel.
Lighting 2 175W Hanging pendants. One 10K blueline bulb and one 10K Aqualine Bushke bulb. Photoperiod: 11am-12am
Protein Skimmer Euro-Reef CS6-1
Biological Filtration LR and LS
Chemical Filtration Every now and then, I'll run GAC through a Berlin Sump Sock. But not on a regular basis.
Circulation 2 Quite Ones for returning water from Sump to Tank. There are 4 Maxi-Jets (1 ea. 400, 600, 900, 1200) in the tank. These are ran from a Red Sea Wavemaster Pro. I have a surface skimming overflow box in the tank. The drain pipes are from Rich Durso's idea.
pH 8.05 morning 8.25 evening
Temperature averages 83F. Sometimes it shoots up to 85F. I'd rather have it rock steady in the 80-81F range but I don't have a chiller.
Specific Gravity / Salintity 1.026 refractometer reading
Alkalinity 11.8 dKH Salifert
Calcium 420ppm Salifert
Nitrate my nitrates fluctuate alot.
4 Fish Blue Damsel, Bicolor Pseudochromis, and a mated pair of Clarkii Clowns
Corals Encrusting gorgonia, Purple blade gorgonia, Branching frogspawn, Green hairy mushrooms, Blue(ish) mushrooms, Yellow polyps, some brownish zooanthids
Invertebrates :sabea anemone, coral banded shrimp, 15 astrea snails, brittle star, 10 hermit crabs (black and white), Hawaiian featherduster
Pest Hair algea and aptaisia
Maintenance Program I keep an eye on my animals. I frequently check my electronic pH, ORP and temp displays. And I give a daily glance to the water level in my sump and skimmate cup. A Magnivore magnet cleaner cleans the inside of my acrylic, I use cheesecloth to clean the outside. Kalk is dosed inconsistently. RO water courtesy of Spectrapure.
