Here are the specs on my reef, I will try to be as detailed as possible:
75 gallon oceanic drilled glass tank with corner overflow, custom built oak stand and canopy.
Lighting: 8 power compacts, 55 watts each, combination of actinic and daylight. Power compact also lights the refug, which is on during the night hours while the tank lights are on during the day.
Filtration: Small home made wet dry initial pass then to the refugium where the water first passes through a Tunze 230/3 Skimmer and then through the refugium where various macroalgaes and snails call home.
UV sterilizer 18 watt runs 24 hours a day.
Supplements: I try to use sparingly, but have been faithful to Kent Marine supplements used weekly. DT phyto for the corals and Nori for the fish along with mysis every once and a while. Selcon addition to the food, and some garlic-xtreme every once and a while for disease resistance.
Water changes: about every 10 days with RO water and Instant Ocean salt, after trying many more expensive brands, IO is the best for me. I may add some Superbuffer from time to time to keep ph in check though it is always registering at 8.3 and DKH 8-12. I run RO water in a tub with a powerhead for 24 hours before using to ensure uniformity.
Corals: Leather corals, Rasta Finger, Tree Coral, One Maxima clam, two crocea clams and one derasa clam. Various mushrooms and zoo colonies, polyps everywhere, and last but not least, my collection of phatty boom batty brain corals in the front of the tank. They are my favorite. In the future I hope to add some more SPS corals once I beef up the lighting system to MH.
Live Rock is Namoli and Fiji with maybe some Tonga mixed in, also a aragonits sand bed, LR propped up on PVC for water flow.
Fish: One Yellow Tang, One Sailfin Tang, One Hippo Tang, A Pair of clownfish who love to lay eggs, a purple pseudo, one yellow tail damsel, and a blood red fire shrimp. Oh yeah, one cleaner wrasse and a Bartlett Anthias too...........
Cost of tank: who knows, it would make me cry if I had to add it up
Other intersting info: This tank was originally a 20 gallon reef upgraded to a 40 gallon breeder where is went along good for a while before I relocated to and finally had enough money to plop down for a bigger tank, better lighting and filtration, and more room for my friends.
Goal: an 500 gallon reef. Someday it will happen
