Here is my most recent adoption

Two little False Percula Clowns....in which are about the size of my thumb nail if not a litttttttttttle bigger, but not by much they are the cutest thing I have ever seen...so small.

Pictures are taken from the QT tank....where I have a 500ml Sour Creme Container for some protection/security...but they dont seem to care for it they are so fast and so crazy they are always swimming around together having fun.

I will upload better pics at some pt ..they just dont sit still EVER Ehehhe

Looking good Don't mean to be a kill-joy, but anemones require MH lighting to make it for very long at all. I had two myself and I had the same lighting. They deminish in size and ultimately die. Sorry; they are rather hard to keep.

I couldn't find any useful books on the subject for ya. They are all either out-of-date or very simplistic and not informative. Little good research has been done on these animals. Pity, they are gorgeous.

Good Points- Normal reef lighting is enough (above 4 watts per gal.) for this type of anemone and may be more than enough. Nitrate levels below 20 ppm are preferred. Small ones may reproduce asexually in your aquarium by dividing into two smaller anemones. Their sting is rather weak and won't harm your other fish. They are accepted by Clarki-type clowns, all the different tomato-type clowns, maroon clowns and sometimes, although very rarely, percula and ocellaris clowns.

I also read from other people on here and other places that have kept a BTA under the same if not less lights for a long period of time. Seeing as I only have PC I did not get a carpet or other anemone's that require more stronger lighting (MH).

I hope mine do alright they have for 3-4 months so far but who knows since like we've all read they take time to pass away. So far they have not showed any signs of withering, have not moved, open and close, eat, etc and also have grown. But like I said since they take so long to show any signs who knowz...all I can do is hope for the best. I hope someday I can provided stronger lighting (esp in regards to wanting corals etc), but at the moment PC will have to do. I am just trying to do little things at a time ...like an upgrade to a better PS, and RO unit..etc to provide better water quality for the fishes, inverts, and anemones... luv this hobby to death suxs it costs so much mola.

Are you sure? I was having trouble with my LTA for a while but as soon as I upped my wpg to 5.78 it has recovered nicely.

Hey CC, how are the two anemones doing in the same tank? I have heard that it can be risky to put 2 in the same tank, although I would like to do it in mine.

Hey Fishfanatic2,
They are doing great have had them for 5+ months or so.....

I first bought the Pink-tipped bc I liked it and it was a little less pricey and I just wanted to get used to caring for an anemone, so might as well start at the easiest, and least expensive. He moved around a lot until I bought my PC"s then he stayed still at the bottom.
Then I bought my rBTA, she stayed up on the rocks for a couple weeks then out of no where she started to move around I got a little eeeee then, but she just wanted to put her foot in a crevice, and get out of the direct current. Once there...she hasnt moved since.

The Pinky on the other hand moved once again once I added TONS of LR, she wanted more current and light so moved up to near the top, and they she has stayed since as well.

I guess the trick is to have the required lighting for the species, right current and location (crevice for their foot) so when you put them in they will tend to stay put. That and just get one settled, then work on another so the chance of them bumping into each other is slimmer then if they both were moving around I suppose.

Now this all depends on your size of tank.

Cool. Your tank seems to be at the same point mine is, excpet mine has lots of nice hair algae. :? I bought my condy for the same reason you got the pinky, and I want to add a BTA eventually for my clown. However, my tank is 29 gal. so it could be risky...but I have a spot that my condy loved until I screwed with the lighting.

As soon as I get my algae under control I'll be gettin some corals too.

Do not go by the whole 4W per gallon..175W of MH isnt the same as 175W of PC...just some advise...what do they mean normal reef lighting...
