Hello

my name is Matthias and i am a 38 years old reefaquarist from Germany. I work as quality engineer in a company which is a supplier for the car industries.

I started with keeping fish 10 years ago. At the beginning i kept a small Amazonas - Tank which i bought as my wife went for a week into holidays (she always was against that "boring glass boxes". Imagine how surprise she was as she came back from her trip  2 years later i changed my tank into a bigger one and did start to keep Malawis. I was very successfull in breeding the following years.
As i visited a big Petstore in Stuttgart, i saw for the first time in my life a reeftank which was designed for private aquarists. Off course i had seen a lot of reefs in zoos, but i never could imagine that somebody without an education as marine biologist would be able to keep corals and coralsfishes in a small glass tank. From that moment i knew that nothing could hinder me to own such a beautiful reeftank- excepted my wife  It tooked 6 months preparation before my wife gave the ok for the project. I sold my whole equipment and animals i kept and bought a small 270 liter / 70 g reeftank. How lucky i was  1 year later we moved into a new house. I bought a new tank because i was not shure if my fish and invertebrates will survive a long move in the middle of the winter. Of course the tank was little bigger than the old one.

Last event: Big fishdisease which kiled 7 fishes :( (probably it was oodinum)

So and this is now my current reeftank
