I decided to go all out on one, and I mean one, tank untill I am settled down and have permanent house and job. After all, I am only a college student.

So, I ended up getting a acrylic cube from glasscages.com (20*20*16). Plumbed it with two 1" overflows and two split returns (1/2") with a CA 4000.

I got a ASM mini in the rubbermaid sump (soon to replaced by a 20L).

Lighting is a 150 watt DE metal halide (10K) and four 13 watt t5 actinics. The metal halide is catalina aquariums (got it off ebay), and the t5's are 2' aqualights from hellolights.com.

Hopefully in next week or so, I will finally put in my surge buckets and see what happens.

Here are the specs:

Tank: Acrylic cube 20"*20"*16" (24ish gallons)

Plumbing: Built-in overflow with two 1" durso standpipes; CA 4000 return pump (two split returns); eventually two 2 gallon surge buckets

Filtration: ASM mini, purigen, filter sock; eventually cheato/glarcia refugium, sponge bed, anemone pit

Update:

No changes in lighting, plumbing, or filtration. I never got around to putting in the surges. Also, the tank is currently at my permanent address, with my mom, so it does not get all the attention it should.

Last October I nuked my tank with a Kalk overdose and killed all the previous fish, snails, and most of the corals. I held off adding anything because of the expense as well as the distance from my tank. In December I started working at a pet store so I could finally add new critters. However distance has still prevented me from putting to much into the tank.

Also, right now I am in the process of setting up a 120, so the tang, butterfly, and grouper are moving as soon as physically possible.

Livestock:

Banner Cardinal
Jewel Damsel
Klein's Butterfly
V-Tail Grouper
Blue-Eye Tang (Similar to Kole)

Hammer Coral
Frogspawn
Montiporia sp.
Finger Leather
Favia (barely alive)
Button Polyps
Unknown Coral

2 Mexican Turbos
2 Atlantic Turbos
3 Cerith Snails
5 Illynsia Snails
7-8 blue legged hermits
1 large unknown hermit
Unknown Anemone
