With that amount of light on a 55 (Standard AGA 48x13x20) you will be pusing the limits with keeping SPS. Try starting with a montipora near the very top of your rockwork for starters If you must have one or two.

I have a 30 long with almost the exact same PC wattage as you. It is 2 inches shorter than a 55. There are two SPS colonies in my tank. They are surviving but are definately not thriving.

I have a couple of Montiporas and both are doing well. I took 3 frags of Pocillopora C. and put them all mid level and they are growing. My other tank is a 40 or so under a 175W MH and the SPS are the same over there. It is a shallow tank but I will keep an eye on these and see how it goes in there new environmentbefore I intro anything more light demanding.

Have you had a chance to look at my blog? You can see some pictures of this tank froom a couple of years ago as well as the 40 that has been up and running for a year now.

This tank is only 36 inches long and rated as a 50 gal not the standard 55.
Sorry, I should have inc. the measurements with the specs.
