At this point I still have no idea what caused the crash- but since it happened everything has been at ideal levels, effluent included – and the remaining fish and corals are all doing well. It is a mystery what happened but it will keep me on my toes moving forward – and any ideas anyone has would be of great interest to me in an effort to prevent it from reoccurring.

Sounds like some kind of bacteria explosion. Was the tank cloudy? Did you introduce any kind of cycling stuff? Same can happen when using vodka. Bacteria eats all the O2 up.

I hope the Solaris are working out for you. I had a 72" H series. After 3 months of watching my SPS die and wither away I got PFO to exchange me for a 3x 250w MH system and refund the remaining money. The LEDs kept on failing. The fixture has way too many problems for the money. Only good for softies.

Are you sure it was not your sea apple? I know that they can nuke a tank fairly quickly.

Sea apple is alive and well . . . I checked for that right away, but it was positioned right in the front of the tank nicely expanded . . .
