UPDATED 3/25/07
Tank-Oceanic Contrast Cherry 30 gallon "Cube" measuring approximately 21x20x18 with stand. Rear wall spray painted black. Rear wall drilled by lfs with center 1" drain with two 3/4" returns. Black acrylic overflow box partially built by http://www.acrylicman.com/Contact.html and installed by me with clear aquarium sealant.

Sump with refugium-Custom built by http://www.acrylicman.com/Contact.html
Measures 18"x16"x15" holding app 18 gallons. Left rear is 13"x6" for tank drain, overflows to refugium 13"x10"x10" holding 5.6 gallons, overflows to tank return 16"x5". Refugium has app one inch mixed sand, LR and macroalgae.

Skimmer-Aqua C Remora Pro driven by Mag 3. The skimmer is a HOB on the sump. Fits very nicely in the 9" space of the stand.

Lighting-Sunpod 150w 14K with 6 white LEDS and 6 Blue LEDS. Standard light fixture that came with tank and stand equipped with Coralife 15 watt NO actinic bulb. Refugium lighting is a 12" Coralife 2x18 watt 50/50 bulbs. Actinic 10a-10p.(12 hrs) Sunpod 11a-9p.(10 hrs)

Current-Mag 9.5 with SCWD.

Live Rock/Substrate-23 pounds in tank, aquascaped for maximum flow. Can easily see through the boulder from every direction. Maybe another pound or two in the refugium. Substrate is 1" in tank and refugium, mixed size. The pics in the beginning of the thread represent the center boulder with cave. It did have its advantages. However, one needed to walk around the tank to view the inhabitants. I have since changed the display to a more traditional back wall aquascape as seen on page 2. It provides much more floor space for future clams or anemone.

History-The substrate and live rock have been around for several years, transferred over from a 75 gallon FOWLR. The rock is very clean, substrate was blasted with a Mag 7 prior to transfer. Attempted to catch as many sqaghetti worms as possible. I have had salt water since 1987, freshwater before that. This is my first serious attempt at a reef.

Plans-Mixed reef. Small fish such as Six Line Wrasse, Royal Gramma, Pseudochromis.

I have upgraded my return pump from a Mag 7 to a Mag 9.5.
Since I have the interior side of the 3/4 inch bulkheads bare, (no directional nozzles) the flow goes straight to the front glass, down , sweeps front to back and then up. As there are no directional nozzles aiming the flow directly on the rock the flow appears less and not sure how this will work out in the future. My four feet head pressure, SCWD, and one 90 degree elbow really cuts the flow down. I was surprised that my 1" drain (with 90 elbow) is able to keep up with the mag 9.5. The drain is fitted with the flexible pool hose that goes directly into a extra large sock. Removing this sock for one hour every time I feed with Marine Snow may get annoying. Without the sock, micro bubbles are a major issue. These are the times I wonder why I did not go with a Red Sea Max!

Went shopping today at Something Fishy in Northampton, Pa. www.toofishy.com
Unique pricing; they had tanks filled with corals and averything in that tank would be say $42, next tank would be filled with other or larger corals and everthing would be say $50. As I am just starting off, I went with the frag tanks-tanks were set up similarly-one at $10, one at $15, another at $20. Special today on there $10 frags-BOGO

I also upgraded the sump. I bought one of those fliter sock rings with sock. I moded my sump and glued a sheet of acrylic to raise the height at which the ring hangs. I placed the old filter sock over the output of the remora pro. This made a tremendous improvement and virtually eliminated microbubbles entering the tank. I also added some chainlink style black plastic to my overflow box to prevent the clown goby from going Nemo on me-he did it twice in one day. Rainfordi Goby deceased today.
Pictures to follow

I asked Len on another post but if anyone else can help out, please do so. I really like thumbnails. I hate the huge pics that I have above which forces one to move the horizantal scroll bar. Can I us ethumbnails without going through a photosharing service liek photobucket?

I'm not sure about the picture thing. The tank is looking really good, though. :) One thing you might want to reconsider is your fish list from your first post. Some of those fish aren't really suitable for a tank so small. They're small-yes. But have some specific/finicky needs. Look into it a little more.
