I haven't posted a single post, yet! That will soon change though. My tank.
I was recently blessed with a 75G tank for free. Yes, thats right free......with a little work. Ok,OK. A lot of work. Sump needed to be replaced, return pump is almost brand new. BlueLine Aqua 20. Redid all the plumbing in and out of the tank. Tank dimensions are 48Lx18Dx21W. I had to pull the tank out of its 15 yr old home, pulled all water and rock out of tank, and left sand in. Moved tank, broke out old sump(tank stand was a closed top, now other way to get it out.. must have been built in. Cut hole in top of tank stand to put new sump in. Plumbed new sump, cleaned up everything. With the BlueLine 20, I figure I'm getting about 360Gph including headloss.
Filtration is setup berlin style right now. Skimmer is a SeaClone 100. Please leave out the "SeaClones suck" rants, I've already heard them, and formed my own opinion
. Its actually a pretty good skimmer after modified. Even before modified I get dark dark green skimmate. Maybe its just because of the low bioload right now, but it's running well, as long as it's cleaned about every two weeks.
Lighting is an old ballast, of which I have no clue what kind. Currently its running two VHO 46.5" bulbs, one actinic white, and one super actinic. Eventually I will be beefing this up, as I know its not enough light period. My other tanks have 3 watts per gallon at least. This one currently has 1.5.
. I know wattage per gallon really doesn't mean anything, but it's a good indicator knowing the depth of the tank and the type of light.
Originally the tank had a single MaxiJet 600 for flow. I've since added a MaxiJet 600 and 1200. The two 600's are currently in the left back corner pointing to the front, and the 1200 is in the right back corner pointing to the front and seems to get pretty good movement in the tank and great surface agitation. This adds 290Gph of extra water flow to the tank. I'm still working on the setup, but everything looks good right now, and everything I have in there is rather happy.
Now for some pics. Please bear in mind that this tank had only a small cycle from the rock being out of the tank for a few hours, and well soaked during the transport.
FTS a couple days after up and running.
