We just started a new 75 gallon fowlr tank. We are using 2 Marineland 350 Power filters with bio-wheels,(1)Instant Ocean Seaclone Protein skimmer, (1) koralia wave pump, (1) power sweep powerhead, , (1) Marineland Visi-therm stealth pro heater 250 watt. Lighting is a Current Nova Etreme with (1) 54watt 10,000k and (1) 54watt 14,000k bulb plus both a 420 and 460 actinic bulbs, and 4 Lunar lights. We have about 100lbs of live and base rock. It's actually one of the main, unsung pleasures of reefkeeping - spotting the life emerging from new live rock.

Just make sure you keep testing your water levels as the tank matures. I see you already have a fish in there - you want to make sure that the ammonia and nitrites in particular are under control, using water changes if need be. It's probably more common nowadays to cycle a tank before you add the fish, but you should be alright if you test every day or two and have water ready to make changes if nutrient levels rise (apologies if the tank was set up for a few weeks before you added the fish and you're way ahead of me on this).

BTW, if at some point you have the cash to invest in a better skimmer, that would be a good plan (the Seaclone is seen as being one of the least efficient skimmers you can get - sometimes known as the Seaclown). In the meantime, there are some mods which might make it more effective. Do a Google search for Seaclone mods - it should help turn up some useful hints.

Thanks for all your advice. We just added the damsel and at first to help seed the tank and then added the Gramma a few days later. Our levels are all spot on. We went through a slight increase in the ammonia and nitrates, but that has evened out, only the nitrates are testing at 5 ppms. We have been doing our water changes. We are definately going to get another skimmer, this one was a left over from a previous tank. It actually does a pretty good job though, pulls all kinds of junk out of the water, so it will do for now.
Can't wait see more life coming out. It's the best part of having a tank!

Peace!
