welcome...........

what im thinking about the iron stand is...you can build a skin around it and cover up all the eqiupment....

Autoponicz, thank you for the warm welcome and definitely along the lines of what I was thinking especially since I want to keep little hands from touching things when I'm not around soon.

Hello Jason! Welcome to the family!:grouphug: Autoponicz, and your self beat me to it. Definitely put a skirt around the stand as well as the sump. Perhaps you can configuere something with a removable top for the 45g sump. Besides keeping little hands out, you also want to make sure to keep toys, crayons, pennies etc....... out. Congratulations on the up coming birth of the best thing that will ever happen to you both. Get as much sleep as you can, for come Nov. you will not get much.lol You've been warned.lol
By the way, I like your set up very much!!

Jason, I know it's not an immediate concern for your own little guy yet (maybe for other visiting children though), but having a sump next to your display, at or below eye level for a toddler, with no cover on it can also be a recipe for a HUGE tragedy. Pennies, toys, unwanted hands are just minor in comparison to the potential for disaster with the possibility of a child falling into the sump head first.

Placing the sump underneath your display can allay ALL the above concerns. If you can possibly manage the relocation of the sump, I think you'd be doing yourself a great service and allow you peace of mind.

Also, placing a lid or cover on the sump will just be another place for heat to build up.

JMO, and I'm off my soapbox now.

Awibrandy, thank you for the warm welcome. I will definitely be looking into this that. As far as sleep I don't get much anyway so I'm sure I wont be missing it.

Masterswimmer, definitely something that I have taking into consideration and I will be building a skins around the entire aquarium including the sump. I'm going to attempt to enclose the aquarium and install adequate fans and ventilation. Plus it won't fit underneath the Display Aquarium.
