hi folks here is my 180 in wall tank. its currently undergoing hyposalinity for 2 more weeks. Im thinking of slowly going back to reef & wanted to keep it as clean as I can.
here is a few things I wanted to change down the line:

1. Remove two Sea Swirls & switch to Wavy Seas
2. Switch over to Vortechs instead of Power Heads
3. Run T5's 6X80W with 2X IceCap 660's

do you guys think this is enough flow & lighting to keep Mix reef?

suggestions are welcome. & would love to hear your experiences & comments :goldfish:

I have decided to keep medium size fish, the only have one resident Im worried about that might not prove to be reef safe.

the sand got so clean when I did my hypo....the rocks retained some coraline but not alot, its so much easier to clean the glass. I also discontinued Calcium after turning to FOWLR

the rock work is open considering swim space, plus if I need to catch something I can easily partition the tank in three cubes with eggcrate & not destroy the rest of the tank.

Daceman I also see you have Vortech pumps, how you like them? better than tunzes?

I still have Sea Swirls, so you can let me know. where did you score them?
I will be getting them but not using them until late feb to mid march. I'm buying everything for my upgrade a little at a time. Lots of mula that i need to make for it. as for the vortech vs tunze. the only thing i feel tunze has over the Vortech pumps is that you can aim them. But thats about it.

Why do you think the wavy seas are going to be better than SeaSwirls? :tired:

You should have gone with the large Tunzes or Vortec a year ago, instead of wasting money on those power heads.

one thing is the control, second is the water volume it can handle.
I didnt like the Tunzes & they were priced too high for somethng that didnt appeal to me. The Vortechs looks kewl! :wink1:
started using the Nano Streams (coz they looked kewl) but the Koralia had a more random flow at half the price.....

I dont know if the Wavy Sea will be better, let me buy it & sell it later if I dont like it. as if you dont know me by now:lol_large

some pics with Vortech pumps in Anti-sync pulse mode, gives me a nice small wave action in the tank. some delay on my Wavy Sea.

thanks guys, still dont know how the rocks are standing without any glue......

here is when I originally started. Im slowly gathering my stuff to go back to reef, but I know this will be along journey for me. I believe I have a nice flow with open rock work. Im still toying with the idea of 5-6 T5's since they only have 5' as the longest bulb/reflector I might have a dark area about 6" on each end. shouldnt really matter since the pumps will blow anything that close to it....
