My pictures ended up being HORRIBLE
I will take pics thursday with the help of someone better then I with a camera

Just wanted to post that I picked up some amazing stuff at the swap, mostly from fellow members as I only bought 3 pieces from vendors. I will say my favorite piece was a small piece of Trikentrion flabelliforme (spider sponge) from NY Aquarium. I have always been amazed by this piece so I wanted to give it a shot. I was very tempted to get a new clam but resisited!
Got a ton of shrooms from some great members and a superman shroom from Cherry Corals! Gorgeous blue palys from WWOF and then a bunch of amazing zoas and palys from other members!
For all you members I meet , it was a pleasure!

It was very nice to meet you finally Doc!

Bet your pics aren't all that bad!!!

Was great meeting you as well. I will work on the pictures, its just everyone on here has such amazing pictures I am ashamed to post mine until they are at least decent. Problem is if my glass isnt sparkling clean it just focuses on some minor smudge on the glass. I will keep at it when I wake up from my overnight shifts!

Need Aquascape Advice

So, My tank is basically made up of 3 pieces of rock, 1 medium and 2 huge pieces along with some small rubble and just reg. small pieces. Problem is, after seeing everyone elses tank and how nice some of the rock work is I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MINE.
Problem is i have alot of nice corals on these rocks so how do I go about making them into smaller pieces without damaging my corals?

What tips do you all have? All advice is appreciated!

Tip #1 : you will never be satisfied with your rock.

you can get all the soft coral off your rocks but it will take some time.
use a scalpel and scrape or saw just under the base of the coral. you want to take off a thin layer of rock just under the coral. I know it sounds crazy but you can slice the rock with the sharp blade. Make sure you wear gloves and eye protection. use a large bowl or container to do this in and refresh the water with each rock. the idea is once the polyps are off you will have a way to glue them back onto the rocks.
to break up the rock drill holes along the line you envision the rock becoming. then use a cold chisel and hammer. sometimes it works and sometimes the rock will break however it wants to. make sure to keep the rock wet otherwise your going to have a mini cycle to contend with due to die off. good luck!
