Hello All,

I just wanted to share some photos of my new tank with you. I've been busy building all sorts of things for our MR members but I found a little time to spend on a tank of my own. Eventhough I build complex set ups for others my motto is simple for myself KISS (keep it simple stupid) I had a bunch of items sitting around so I chose to just use what I have as far as equipment. I wanted this to be a total DIY so I even chose to build my own stand which was a first for me. After checking the DIY threads on stands I thought I'd give it a try. So here's what I came up with. Not the quality as some of our other MR members who build stands but for me its fine. Actually its what I'm most proud of in this entire project because the tank and sump were easy as pie because that's what I do :approve:

Hello All,

As far as the tank I always liked the 40 breeders so that's basically what I chose to build with just a little twist. My tank is clear acrylic with a black background. I also added dual internal overflows. It's dimensions are 36" long x 18" wide x 16" high. I really don't like high fish tanks so I chose the 16" height. I also liked being able to do the dual internal rear overflows with enough room for pipes.

Here are my simple pipes that go with the internal overflows. They're connected to 1" bulkheads drilled inside the overflows. This simple set up reduce just about all noise. The return is 3/4" Loc-Line. I found a reduce that makes the 3/4" into dual 1/2"

Hello All,

One of the simplest things for me to build was the sump because that's just what I do  I chose to make the sump with dual filter sock intakes to be compatitable with the overflows. The sump has a skimmer section, refugium area and a return pump section. After the skimmer section there are a series of baffles to remove any micro bubbles. I also put a probe holder in the last chamber.

Hello All,

As far as equipment I basically used pieces that I already had laying around. The skimmer is a Das BX-1. My return pump is a Eheim 1060. The lighting that I'm currently using is a 36" Tek 4 lamp fixture. I'm also running 3 x Korailia #1. I'll probably upgrade some of the equipment over time but for now this stuff will do fine. Just like with my set up as far as corals I like the basics maybe a torch, frogspawn, hammer. Same with fish a fire fish, pair of clowns nothing too extoic for right now. Also 2 cleaner shrimp down the road.

Hello All,

For this tank I wanted to do something a little different so I chose to use Marco Rocks. They have very nice shapes with a lot of holes. Another thing about them is they're easy to drill. I chose to drill them and use acrylic rods that I got from another MR member. By using the rods coupled with pieces of acrylic you're basically able to aquascape your tank any way you'd like. Some of my rocks are standing straight up. Others don't even touch the sand almost levitating. The sand I choose was white sand very fine sugar sized grain. Again something a little new that I wanted to try.

Well there are the photos and I'm done! Just a very simple set up which is what I like best (KISS). You guys keep me busy so it may be a while before I get to post anything else on this thread. I hope you all liked it.

Thanks :fish:

I saw this setup in person about two weeks ago and the photos don't do it justice, but they come close. great set up and the handy work on the stand was also well done. now lets see some livestock.

Wow! Great set up and great aquascaping. I really love the probe holder! My temperature probe is always popping out of the sump. Very clever idea :)

The surface of the main tank is very covered up. Is that permanent or a cover? How was it getting the rocks in there?
