ok, I'll just leave it alone

I took out the shrimp in the morning today and didn't add any fish food for 2 days.

I'm thinking about what the stocking of my tank is gonna be.
I was thinking of having 10 snails and 5 hermits for a CUC.
For fish I was thinking of having either 2 yellow-tail blue damsels or 2 clownfish, a green clown goby, and a firefish. Would that be fine?

Just food for thought, I originally started my tank with 2 yellow tails, and later added two ocellaris clowns. Eventually the bigger yellow tail beat the ever living hell out of the smaller, so much so that I had to take the smaller out and bring it back to the store (I couldnt catch the bigger one). Eventually, the bigger one started picking on the clowns. I had to break the entire tank down and remove all the rock to get the damsel out. Since then the clowns have been fine. Damsels can get very territorial. Just something to consider. Good luck either way!

Hi Gene0514,

I started a little Saltwater experiment myself about 4 (5?) weeks ago,
going through similar experience...BTW don't you also hate that API Nitrate Test? That 30 sec + 1min shaking drives me nuts, but it looks quite yellow
->0, too me, don't know what the precision on that test is; +/- 5?
I am doing a 5.5 G right now to get a feeling for it. The 40 G BR still has a pair of Neolamprologus tetracephalus in it, and before I buy Live Rock for $600 for that, I wanted to know what I'm doing.
I used some fresh shrimp and Prodibio bacs for the cycle,
NH3=0, NO2=0,NO3=~10.
Added 2 Cerith snails, and 2 Nassarius snails, drip acclimated them for
1 1/2 hrs but the Cerith didn't make it, the Nassarius are fine.
The 5.5G IS TOO SMALL, question now is, if I should go for a in-between 20L, or tackle the 40?

Anyway, best of luck, lots of fun.

Thanks! :D

And the size you choose should depend on what you want to keep in it. Also remember, the bigger the tank, the bigger the equipment, the more it costs. For my 20 gallon tank, I've only spent a bit less than $200 so far, but wait till all the corals, thats gonna add a pretty large amount of money to the expenses.

I found some star shaped creatures on my glass today. Here are some pics of them. The other little blobs you see are pods.
