It's cool, people de-rimming the 20 long has been done many times before with great success.

It's just derimming it, and then drilling it which is the hard part. I won't be touching this project till next weekend, too busy with work

A lot of people that remove it euro brace it. Be careful. 20g of water on the floor is a lot more than it looks in the tank.

Trust me I know.

Got a lot done this past weekend! I painted the back black, and took out all the silicone residue. Also found out I have a few small scratches near the top of the tank (probably when i was sanding the edges of the eurobrace. F$!@ ME!!

This is officially the slowest tank build ever...

Got some stuff done, hanging my fixture, plumbing 99% done.

What methods are there in regards to the return plumbing that allows me to remove the return pump for cleaning in the future when NOT using vinyl tubing? (PVC only).

Here's the plumbing to my return.. no valves, just PVC and bends.

Should I put any valves on it? Return pump is marineland maxijet 1800.

My drain is simple twists and turns as well, no valves on it.

I can't really tell what size are your PVC pipes, but the pump is 475gph. The drain looks 1" or larger, so its optional if you want a valve since there is no manifold. The pump probably won't be pushing too much water to be concerned about a ball valve after head pressure to begin with IMO. You probably won't need a bigger pump though because its only a 20g tank

the brace is there to hold it together when its full of water...not really an extra part.. its like only putting the lugs on 3 out of 4 wheels on a car.. sure u might be able to move it but man what a mess when it lets go...good luck

It's a little noisy, but then, right now, the stand is away from the wall (because I needed to check for leaks). I think by getting a higher (smaller) filter sock, the splashing noise will reduce.

Ideas?
