Thought I would do two things here. Introduce myself first of all and then show you all my most recent tank build.

I'm not from the Manhattan Area. I am from Portland Oregon. I run a company out here on the west coast doing tank maintenance and running a retail saltwater shop...Aquarian Saltwater LLC. As you can see from my screen name. I joined the forum because the local forum is a MUCH smaller community and there seems to be a lot on here I can learn from. I'm a 32 year old first time business owner and Legally blind guy. The legally blind made me move from model airplanes to aquariums. It's a little slower paced and not nearly as dangerous (most of the time anyway). My name is Matthew. Nice to meet you all.

On to the tank build...

I recently purchased an Oceanic 155 gallon Bow front Aquarium. It has a built in overflow on the back and a closed loop setup on it. When I bought the tank it was a tank, stand and empty canopy. I bought an acrylic 60 gallon sump for it with 6 chambers. It has a set of slow flow chambers for a refugium. It has a sock chamber for the overflow. Finally it has a large equipment chamber. I also bought a Reeflo Snapper return pump for it. I bought a Current USA UV sterilizer. I have a Fluidized sand filter on it. I have a large ETSS skimmer. A PCX-30 closed loop pump. I got 3 Galaxy Electronic Switchable ballasts for the lighting, 3 Lumen Max Elite reflectors, and 3 Radium 20k 250w SE Halide bulbs. It also has 3 Helios 24" T5 Actinic bulbs running UV 454 bulbs. I have a dual Coralife T$ fixture over the sump. I dropped about $350 in plumbing parts to plumb the back of the tank. I have 120 lbs live sand, and 140 lbs live rock. I have two very large (one is 60 and one is a touch over 80 lbs) pieces of live rock for the center of the tank. Wich will put me around 225-250 lbs of rock depending on what I leave in and what I take out. I also have 2 Koralia style powerheads for additional flow. There's a heater in the sump too. I have a eco tek chiller on order for it. 1/2 HP.

I have several fish in it at this point, Two blue damsels, one blue green chromis, one Sailfin tang, one Yellow Kole Eye Tang, one Blocchi Tang, Three Blue Hippo Tangs, and one Neon Goby. There is a fire shrimp in there, about a dozen snails, and approximately 175 1/4" hermit crabs. I have two colonies of Oregon Tort in there. One small (about 2.5" tall and about 1.5-2" across with about 15 branches), and another that is about 11-12" tall and approximately 7-8" across. I have several frags I am transplanting from my frag tank into the bow front in a few days. Pink Lemonade, Watermelon Chalice, Blueberry watermelon Chalice, Jedi Mind Trick Montipora, Rainbow Montipora, Tri Color Acropora in a couple different varieties, and a mess of Zoa's. I'm hoping to downgrade my 9 up and running saltwater tanks into three. I'm moving into the 155 Bowfront most of my corals and reef safe fish. I have a 34 gallon Oceanic Bio Cube that I built a custom sump for that will house the rest of my corals (frag system), and finally a 54 gallon Corner Bowfront FOWLR system to house my puffer and some of my wrasses and other non reef safe critters.

Unfortunately during the move from one of our smaller tanks into the 54 corner for quarantine, my girlfriend bought a Yellow Longnose butterflyfish that came home infected with Marine Velvet...We had never seen it before and didn't know what it was until I had lost my 9" Queen Angel, my Achilles Tang, my Chevron tang, and my Yellow Belly Blue Hippo tang to it. I did manage to save the mated pair of black clowns, the normal blue hippo tang, and the purple tang however.

I don't have any pics of the tank with the livestock in it yet, but will add them shortly. Thanks for reading and enjoy the build pics.

PS...I originally bought two Lumen Max Elites and one Full Size Lumen MAx reflector (as pictured) but for clearance sake have swapped out the center reflector for another Lumen Max Elite.
