pics from a couple of weeks. the rocks were fully cured with only a 15 minute drive so the initial cycle lasted only 4 days

the naso tang died because the tank got ich and it went through to much stress of me trying to catch it so this leaves off to where i am now... doing hypo salinity on the main tank. thats why all the coral and inverts are in that little tank.

You're probably thinking what i thought. "this is going great this is so easy why wait" then comes the ICH outbreaks, the random die off's for no reason, the dead stuff deteriorating behind the rocks causing all your levels to shoot around. Do yourself a favor, let that tank cycle for a good 5-6 more weeks until you start to add anything else. Good luck.

PS-Same mistake i made on my 125, not reef ready.

but the rock was cured and it was live sand. the nitrate never goes up and i got ich because i bought a fish and didn't quarantine it first so it infected the tank but now im just doing hyposalinity and starting over again so there will be no more aiptasia or anything. it is 2 months. what else has to cycle besides the nitrogen stuff because i never have a problem with that even when a 3 inch clownfish died behind the rock.

I thought my rock was cured as well, it always go through some extra curing. You'll see what i'm talking about down the line, we have almost the exact same setup so you can learn from my expensive mistakes. Just keep monitoring it and you'll do fine and take it slow. You haven't had your first outbreak of diatom's yet either i can see by how beautiful and white your rocks are. Give it time they will come. Make sure you have a good cleaning crew ready, turbo snails do the best in my opinion. Keep it up!

haha that stage is over and i hope it doesnt come back. the diotoms were all over the sand and there was hair algae on every rock and i just couldn't get rid of it and i was almost to the point of tearing down the tank and boiling the rock but i just kept up with weekly water changes and some phosphate media and now i have just 1 rock at the very top with some hair algae but its almost nothing and it should go away within a couple of weeks. this is the only full tank shot i have during that problem but the pic is not even half as bad as it was when it really broke out. also the pic with the frogspawn i posted above. thats what all the rocks looked like.

Nice tank. I hope everything goes well with the Hypo. Ich can be a real pain in the butt. I made a vow to myself a long time ago after getting ich in one of my tanks that I would never put a fish in my display tank without a proper quarantine period.
Definitely take things slow from now on.
I am looking forward to watching your tank progress. It's nice to see a young guy. with such a interest in this hobby.

yep im never putting a fish in without quarantining it first. im even hesitant with inverts and corals because i heard that ich can live in there shells or something.

It's coming along but like the others stated do not rush things, From the looks of the new pics you lost all of your fish and now have another naso. The tank never cycled properly and that is why you had hair algae in a tank that is 2 months old, And in the time stated it looks like you had it within the first month. Just take it slow and don't rush it. I know you want ll these cool fish and corals, but you are wasting your money and just killing the fish. Take your time and make a stocking list you really want and add them one at a time and any tangs add last.

guys from the pics there out of order. like the last algae one was taken like a month ago the most recent pics are those 2 full tank shots from an angle. and i waited about 2 or 3 weeks to get expensive fish. and i only had 1 naso. the new one you see is a brown powder tang and the reason i got it was because i am doing hyposalinity on my main tank and i didnt want to have to set up a quarantine right after i finish to get this fish because ive waited 2 months and i always wanted it so i thought it was a good time. i haven't had anything die in a long time exept that naso but it was from ich which i am fixing right now.
