the ammonia cloud produced by the windex around your tank (or stray amounts from droplets, etc) can get absorbed directly into your tank via the air, causing a total wipeout! i've seen this happen to folks with both fresh and salt tanks.
(this was the most plausible cause in one of my customers' claims of 'old tank syndrome,btw :roll: )
NO chemical cleaning materials OF ANY KIND should be allowed near your tank, or the air near your tank.a good rule of thumb is-if it's in the air, it's in the water.(example-if you smoke while enjoying your tank, so's your tank!)
water cleans glass spotless.for lime deposits,dab with vinegar,wait awhile, and then clean with water.
