So I've been on MR for quite some time now, but haven't gotten around to posting a tank thread. This is my first reef tank, and it's been up and running for almost 8 months. There have been ups and downs, but overall I've learned a ton (especially from you guys) and I think I'm doing a pretty good job with the tank. Please give me feedback, suggestions, comments, criticisms, whatever. Here are my specs:
-Water change every 2 weeks with RO/DI water and Instant Ocean salt mix
-salinity: 1.0225; ph: 8.2; nitrates: 0; nitrites: 0; ammonia: 0; calcium: 400; kH: 10dkH; phosphates: 0
Equipment:
-42 Gallon Corner tank with Bow front
-Overflow Box w/ what I believe is a 10 gallon wet/dry sump & Rio 2500 pump for the return
-AquaC Remora HOB Skimmer w/ a Maxi Jet 1200 Pump
-Penguin 550 Powerhead (crappy powerhead, but generates some flow)
-Coralife 150W Clamp on Metal Halide lamp
-Current 2x24" Fixture w/ 420/460nm actinic supplements
-Stealth Heater
-Clear Polypropylene 1/4" mesh on tank for the jumpers
-Float switch from Autotopoffs.com to prevent flooding
-API saltwater & reefmaster test kits
Livestock:
2 Ocellaris clowns hosting a Rose Bubble Tip Anemone
1 Midas Blenny
1 Cherub Pygmy Angel
1 Male Flasher Wrasse (anyone know what specific kind this might be?)
1 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Peppermint Shrimp
1 Electric Blue Hermit Crab
2 Blue legged Hermit Crabs
Assorted snails: turbo, margarita, nassarius, cerith, round nerite
Electric Flame Scallop (fed Phytofeast)
Assorted Zoas, Green Star Polyps, Acan Lord, assorted mushrooms, Xenia (grows like weeds), stick polyp, small acropora frag, superman monti (sorta bleached), frogspawn, 1 aussie dendro
