It always surprise me, on one hand most ppl in this board are excellent persons, I have never felt more welcomed in any other group. We all have been new in this hobby/passion/w.e. If I am not mistaken a few months ago we were all celebrating the 29 or 30something y/o tank from the gentleman in LI, which was full of bottles, asphalt rocks. In other words, an environment of his own creation and which he has cared and help it thrive for longer than some of us (lol) have been alive.
He is not going to have a reef, but a fish only tank, if he wants to put legos so be it. I needed to raise my POD's cover for ventilation... and yes I raided my son's legos and use them. It is goofy, whimsical, and it is MY tank.
So, it does not conform to the "norm", I say welcome to the hobby. Be smart, read all information that you can, and if you happen to want a plastic anemone in the bottom of your tank.... MORE POWER TO YOU.

Best of luck

I agree DonCisco, it's a shame that some would rather ridicule than step up and help a newcomer get the answers he/she needs just because their idea doesn't conform to the look of the average reef tank. It is a legitimate question.

I look forward to seeing how it turns out Narmical. If you need more help please ask. Some of us are here to help. :)

Again make sure any plastic decor you place in the tank are rated for marine/saltwater fish tanks.

yeah i dont want corals. I want a CC starfish. They eat coral, so i cant have both.

the lego would get coverd in coralline?

thats intersting. it may not be such a bad thing if i forexample build a "sunken" lego pirate ship :)

I am the renegade in the board and thus they called me nutz. I am interested to see what a lego private ship looks. Can you show us a pic before you sink it?

sounds like a fun idea! but just make sure your crazy inventions compliment, or at least allow for the proper survival of your creatures. that's why some members frown upon the idea, considering the potential for complications down the line. it seems like some thorough assessing and planning need to be done. that said, rock on narmical!

You are so right. Much thought and assment needs to be done. I, however, am new to this hobby, so i dont have the wisdom. Thats why i asked for help.

Some very usefull advice and comments have been given.

Someone mentioned sealing the lego to prevent water and bad bacteria and other bad things from getting stuck inside the lego. Would stanard aquarium sealent be up to this task? (assuming it bonds to and does not degrade the lego)
