The Reef Fanatic ATO comes with suction cups. Here's a link for replacement suction cups.

The Reef Fanatic ATO has two nice features.
1. The sensors plug in to the controller with 1/8" jacks. Most of the others are hardwired. This makes the wiring a bit easier.
2. If you want to do this, the Reef Fanatic ATO can be set to use the lower sensor to turn on your pump and the higher sensor to turn off the pump. This would stop the constant short bursts of the pump without using a timer. To me the circuitry justifies the price if you care about this feature.

But if I were buying one now I'd get one from autotopoff.com or aquahub.com .

The Reef Fanatic Level Controller Does NOT come with suction cups. The one you received might have been from a previous model run. To say that it comes with suction cups presently is incorrect. It obviously came with suction cups (past tense). The Level Controller has a parts list as follows:

Reef Fanatic PDF File said:
Package Check List
1. One Level Controller (base unit)
2. Two float sensor kits
3. One mounting bracket

Please take note, there are no suction cups on the list. There IS a mounting bracket. That list comes from the Reef Fanatic PDF file from their own website.

Any Reef Fanatic Level Controller purchased from the current inventory in stock from Saltwater Critters comes with brackets.

I used a LifeReef for many years and currently using an ATO with any problems...just have to clean the float once in awhile.

Mike,

Boy, did you hit a sour note for me. My LifeReef Custom sump/refugium. Cost me a fortune. I paid $300 for dual ATO protection. His site touted how great this product was.

3 months after I bought the product, I had a fire burn from the wires. He told me, "hopefully he can fix it". I said what about a guarantee. He told me, his parts company went out of business and I may be stuck. Luckily, he said he had a couple of parts laying around and he fixed it.

How would you like to be told, your fortune ATO was possibly not fixable after 3 months. The guy, Jeff is a great guy, but I told him to replace it. He said it was not his fault that the parts he used were no longer available. I told him I bought directly from him, based on his top notch web site testimonials.

Anyway, after 2 years, thing went on fire and I wasted all that money. Then, I found a real nice one from another vendor. This one was for a solenoid model for ro/di. Not the one's we are talking about here.

However, boy was I pissed that I paid a fortune and I was stuck with a $300 cr@p. Again, Jeff is a nice guy, but if this happened to you, you would not be happy.

I do feel, he should have replaced mine for free, since he could not get parts and he is my vendor not the parts guy.

Anyway, I am thrilled I went another route.

Sorry for venting.
