can i borrow or buy a small tank with hang on filter

Well I am moving into a studio and I am not sure they really want me having a tank there so small enough I can sneak it in. Plus I only know that I will be there for 6 months for now so if I have to move again don't want it to be too hard. I was thinking 30-40 gallons (36") max.

But, you will need to fill it 3/4 way only
as it has a top leak.
